Cornerstone Meeting - July 14th

I have been a part of this Fellowship for 13 years. Long enough to see departures go both ways. Long enough to see the ebb and flow of summer attendance. Long enough to learn that Fellowship is a verb. I know that great preaching and great food is not what makes a Fellowship meeting. I know that what really brings glory to God, and joy to pastors is coming together for encouragement and partnership. I am happy that we have the opportunity to create that environment for you. We have invited Dan Burrell and Robert Hodges to be our speakers.

Dan is one of the foremost thinkers and bloggers in our state. He recently moved back to FL and is now the Executive Pastor at New Testament Baptist Church in Miami. Robert Hodges grew up in our state with his father Mark, pastoring the Winter Haven Baptist Church. Robert just completed his Masters Degree at Baptist Bible College and is moving back to plant a church in the Hunter's Creek area of Orlando. I know that you will gain perspective from both of these men. It is my goal to provide extended time for fellowship and we will adopt to the new time format with the meeting beginning at 11:30. Please come and enjoy.

Great Meeting in Ocoee

June's Meeting at Crownpoint in Ocoee was great. I will be posting some of the speaker notes later this week, but Tim wanted me to thank everyone who came out and those who contributed to the offering for the Timothy Lalonde Family. Here is a link to Billy Hamm's article concerning the situation. $200 was given to help them through this difficult time.

June 9th - Crown Point Baptist, Ocoee

The pastor of our host church and the participants in the program at the June 9 meeting all have direct connections to the Florida Baptist Bible Fellowship church planting program and Boston Baptist College, Boston, Massachusetts. At this meeting you will see that the “Pioneer Spirit” that started the Boston college along with the influence of leaders like Jim Edge, President of Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Missouri, and David Melton, President of Boston Baptist College will help carry the fellowship into an exciting and successful future.

Crown Point Baptist Church (formerly Banana Bay Baptist) is our host church and was started with support from the Florida Baptist Bible Fellowship. Founding pastor Tim Gunter and his wife Debbie are graduates of Boston Baptist College. They welcome the fellowship pastors, staff and their wives to be their guests on Monday, June 9. Along with the pastor’s meeting there will be a special gathering for the ladies at the Gunter’s home.

David Melton, President of Boston Baptist College, has become a favorite speaker at the Florida Baptist Bible Fellowship and we are excited to have him as our keynote speaker for the June 9 meeting. David is also the pastor of the Metro-West Baptist Church in Norton, Massachusetts.

Under Dr. Melton’s leadership, Boston Baptist College received Massachusetts Board of Higher Education approval as a degree granting institution. Commenting on the accreditation award Aundrea Kelly of the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education said, “The tipping point for the entire evaluation…and certainly the tipping point for final approval…was found in the person of David Melton.”

We are fortunate to have David as a key leader of young people preparing for ministry in our fellowship. It’s a privilege to have him address our pastors on June 9.

Richard “Chip” Keller, is a graduate of Boston Baptist College. Chip is the pastor of the Suncoast Baptist Church in Port Charlotte, FL. Suncoast began with support from the Florida Baptist Bible Fellowship. Chip represents long-term success in the church planting efforts of the Florida Baptist Bible Fellowship. Chip will share the solid scriptural foundation necessary to establish a strong sustained ministry.

Dustin Janney is a graduate of Boston Baptist College. Avalon Church in Orlando, FL, where Dustin is the Youth Pastor, was also started with the support of the Florida Baptist Bible Fellowship. Dustin, the son of Dave Janney, is a multi-talented individual possessing a rich heritage in ministry. Dustin, with his unique insight, will encourage us in word and song during worship at our June 9 meeting.
