Liberty Baptist Church is excited to host this month’s FBBF meeting next Monday, November 11^th at 10:00am. We look forward to welcoming two incredible speakers, David Williams and Jamey Ragle.

At 10:00am we will open with David Williams. The early chapters of David’s life are characterized by a confusing childhood and years as a college student and young professional filled with alcohol, partying, sexual immorality, unwanted pregnancies, abortion, marriage, adultery, and divorce.  At the age of 26, David’s life was radically transformed by God’s amazing grace. God has worked in David’s life and ministry experiences to give him a heart and passion to be a part of reaching, building, and sending this generation of youth, college students, and young adults with the glorious gospel of Christ.

After prayer and fellowship, we will rejoin at 11:00am to hear from comedic evangelist Jamey Ragle. Jamey is a well-seasoned uniquely gifted evangelist who has been sharing the life-changing gospel to hundreds of thousands of people. As a result of Jamey’s ministry thousands upon thousands of lives have accepted the Savior, many of them serving in full-time ministries around the world. Jamey’s passion and heartbeat is sharing the HOPE and RESTORATION the gospel brings to one’s life when one repents, asking forgiveness, and begins to follow Him. Jamey has experienced this healing in his own life.

next Meeting - October 14th - Palmetto Ave. Baptist Church - Sanford

Dear Fellow Pastor,

I hope this email finds you in good health and prospering in the Lord.  

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, we have been blessed beyond measure because God has spared us from the ravages of Dorian; however, our friends in the Bahamas who suffered the wrath of the Hurricane were not so fortunate.  Many of our churches have already responded to the initial need for Hurricane Relief by sending food, water, supplies, and money through Rick Schuessler's Champs Missions ministry or some other organization.  In addition to what we have already done, it is imperative that our State make plans for what we should do long-term to help the devastated people of the Bahamas.  There are people in our churches who would love to go on a Disaster Relief/Missions Trip to help rebuild the lives and homes of the people in the Bahamas, and we need to afford them an opportunity to do just that.  Please bring some ideas with you to our next meeting at 10:00 am on Monday, Oct. 14th, and we will discuss our options.

We are planning to feed you well, both physically and spiritually.  Some people eat to live and others of us live to eat!  Being one who loves to eat, it has been ordained that we will once again feast at our Annual Chinese Buffet at Palmetto Avenue Baptist Church in Sanford.  Plan to bring a hefty appetite and a friend with a hefty appetite.  

The spiritual food will be served up by long-time ministers of the Gospel from right here in our State.  George Mulford, Pastor of Grace Bible Baptist in Leesburg, has served as the Lead Pastor there for 28 years.  He is a product of the ministry of Pastor John McCall and Faith Baptist Church of Sarasota.  Believe it or not, George was a long-haired drummer in a rock band when God miraculously saved him!  He always brings a good message from the Lord.  Also, we have invited Pastor Brian Brown to speak for us.  He grew up in a pastor's home, under the ministry of Pastor Harold Ramsey at New Testament Baptist Church in Largo.  Brian is presently a staff consultant at LifePoint Church in Tampa, as well as, a minister with the Pasco County Sheriff's Dept.  He recently preached at our Youth Back-to-School Activity where eleven young people became Christ Followers.  He will certainly give us something to feast on.  Lastly, we have invited Mrs. Andrea Krazeise, the director of the Pregnancy Center of Sanford, to share with us what we can do as Pastors to "make a difference" in the lives of young women who desperately need some good, godly direction to make wiser choices in the future. 

Well, that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!  I hope you will make every effort to be a part of this meeting.  The preaching, fellowship, and food will be worth your time to travel to this event.  I am looking forward to seeing you at our church.

I am excited to let you know that Pastor William Nieto of Avalon Church (Spanish) will be hosting our next meeting. The speakers for the day will be Dustin Janney of Orlando Baptist Church and Pastor Don Dodge of Avalon Church. (English) Pastor Nieto will be asking the Spanish congregation ladies to whip up pernil/lechon, with arroz con gandules and fried plantains….hope you are hungry. Next Meeting - April 8th Cornerstone Davenport

I am super blessed to be able to host this month's Fellowship Meeting at Cornerstone Church in Davenport.  Come early for refreshments and fellowship if you are nearby, otherwise we will begin at 10 a.m.  Our first speaker will be Dr. David Anderson from Faith Baptist Church in Sarasota.  Dave will be speaking on doctrinal integrity in a digital age.  With the vast resources at our fingertips, how do we source solid Bible teachers?  This will be a great topic for all of us who seek resources for preaching each week.  Our second speaker is Greg Peters of Parkview Church in Palm Coast.  Greg will be preaching from the book of Ezra on the tension between the sovereign moves of God and the reality of human push-back.  We will wrap up the meeting with a catered lunch by Chick-fil-a.  We are looking forward to a great day, we hope you will be able to join us!

We are excited to gather together once again this Monday at Palm Springs Drive Baptist Church in Altamonte Springs.  Pastor Scott Carlson has scheduled a great meeting for us.  

Our first speaker will be Dr. Stan Ponz of FL Bible College.  Dr. Ponz  has co-authored with Dr. Mels Carbonell many of the Uniquely You resource materials used in church health development.  You can read more about him here.

Also challenging us from God's Word will be Pastor Dan Green of Eastland Baptist Church in Orlando.  Pastor Green has led this dynamic ministry which includes a Christian School and the Central FL Children's Home.

Guest Post: Pastor Dan Jeffers - Park Street Baptist Church

This past week our kids went to youth camp.  We had four saved from our group.  60 overall.  Of course the kids came back pumped.  I wish we could have a camp atmosphere every Sunday.  We have been going through the book of Revelation but Sunday a message on the 7 bowl judgments and the great harlot just didn't seem appropriate.  So I deviated from that and pulled up I Cor 10:31.  Here is the basics of the message:  

 First Corinthians 10:31  “Whether therefore ye eat or drink or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”  I find this to be a powerful verse.  The context of the verse was more than about eating a meal but it had everything to do with becoming a stumbling block to a weaker Christian by eating meat that had been offered to Idols.  There were some who had come out of idolatry who would be offended if a fellow believer did so.  So Paul addresses the issue and boils everything down to one thing that should determine everything we do and that is “honor and glorify God.” It is the filter that everything should through.   Does what I am about to say glorify God?  Is what I am about to watch going to glorify God?  When I come to church I come to give God glory.  It is not about me but all about Him.  4 things that glorify God:  Salvation  Psa 21:5       service  Mat 5:16    Sacrifice  Phil 4:19  (context of passage is an offering given for Paul's ministy)  Sickness  John 11:4

January 8th FBBF Meeting - St. Petersburg

We are looking forward to hosting the FBBF meeting Monday January 8th here at Park Street. One of the things we have been addressing here at our church is in the area of security. I have asked Jim Howard with Trinity Security Allies (A Church security ministry) to speak for us and we will have a Q&A with him. 

I have also asked Ron Sears to speak. I have asked him to speak on the topic of "Christian Universalism." This is very much a growing doctrine. He has written a book on the topic as he has dealt with this first hand while he was an executive pastor. 

We will have a good lunch and I promise if you come you will be glad you did or your money back.

What's The Plan?

I think it would be safe to assume that most of us are working on some kind of plan as we look ahead to 2018. Whether it is regarding our health, our finances, our preaching schedule or our outreach/missions plan for the coming year, I hope we all realize that it takes more than goals to achieve success, it takes a plan to turn those goals into realities.

What is your PLAN for encouraging fellow pastors and promoting Church planting in 2018?

We can attend conferences for personal growth and edification, but we seldom get to personally encourage others at those gatherings. What about YOU encouraging OTHERS in the ministry?

I would like to encourage you to PLAN NOW to be at the 8 gatherings we will be having at the Florida BBF during this coming year. Circle your calendars NOW (or ask Siri/Alexa to set up reminders for you) for the SECOND MONDAY for the months of January, February, March, April, June, August, October & November.

This new year we will see many changes, but in the scope of eternity and our calling, those changes are superficial. This year it is our hope to change and improve the way we communicate and interact. It is our goal to move from a monthly meeting to daily interactions with one another. November 13th FBBF Meeting - Liberty Baptist Orlando

What a privilege it is to be a servant of the Most High King!  Many of us enjoyed the gratitude of our churches last month for Pastor Appreciation Month, but I realize that many others served with only the recognition of our heavenly Father.  These meetings of pastors allow us to gather for mutual encouragement and to spur one another on toward love and good works.  Please take some time to join us this month. - Joel Johns

June 12th FBBF Meeting - Sanford FL

Pastor Ron & Kathy Williams are excited to connect again with the pastors of the FBBF this coming Monday in Sanford.  The Palmetto Ave Baptist Church will be hosting us and they have gone out of their way to provide a great line up of speakers and music for us.

Justin Brownlee who is on staff with Scott Carlson at Palm Springs Dr. Baptist Church in Altamonte Springs will be starting a new church in Maitland in the Fall, and he will be our first speaker.  

Lunch will be a Chinese Buffet.

Mike Kalaap, former Lead Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Bellflower, CA, who is now the Leadership Development Pastor at BridgePoint Church in St. Pete will speak after lunch.  

Bill Bales, recently retired Lead Pastor of Sonshine Baptist Church in Pt. Charlotte will be the last speaker of the day, and we will be recognizing him for his valuable contribution to the State for more than 40 yrs.  The title of his message will be, "Have You Stayed Too Long, or Are You Leaving Too Early?"

Don Norman from the Orlando Baptist Church will be supplying the special music for the day.

Spring is a wonderful time of the year throughout the world.  New flowers, new leaves (even if they are just pushing the other ones off here in Florida), new animals in the fields and even new predictions for hurricane seasons….

In our Church life, spring usually brings a flurry of activity around Good Friday and Easter, followed by the growth of new believers who have come to know the Lord during this special time of year!  Discipleship groups, baptisms, membership, and so much more as we help them grow deep into Jesus.

This month our Florida BBF has the privilege of gathering in the new facilities of Cornerstone Baptist Church.  I know that Joel Johns and his people are eager to share with all of us the facility that God has blessed them with!

Visit us online at http://www.gpc.me/ If you have questions, please give our office a call us at 407.889.3383 - Jason Henderson, Pastor Helping our People Live and Thrive in the TENSION We are living in times of tension and this tension often spills over into the life of our Churches.  If our people are not prepared to handle it, biblically, it has the potential of destroying the testimony of the Church, or at the very least, making us an ineffective voice in our world today. I recently read a article entitled “What to Do When you Can’t Agree with the People you Love” by Jennifer Dukes Lee.  I would highly recommend that you look it up to get the full context of what she is saying regarding finding unity in the midst of a sharp divide.  I will just give you some highlights: We have to love “us” more than we hate what is different Statistically speaking, we are collectively “different.”  If our people had to pick sides, in many churches half of them would be standing on one side of the issues and half would be standing on the other side.  That certainly does not lead us to the type of unity that Jesus prayed that His followers would have in John 17. “Imagine three cardboard boxes.  People are putting everyone into one of three boxes.  The first box is labeled: “heartless, bigoted conservative.”  The second box is labeled: “whiny, bleeding-heart liberal.”  The third box sits in the middle, a little higher than the other two, and it is labeled: “I’m right.” If you want to help our people live and thrive in the tension of these days, we must help them learn to do four things:   Throw Away the Boxes – Putting people in boxes or labeling them is easier than doing the nuanced work of trying to understand someone else’s point of view, but the extra effort is worth it!  By and large, our people, our nation and our world are too complicated for boxes. Resist the Urge to Be Right – Jesus called us to have love and unity so that the world would know we were His disciples and believe the message we were proclaiming about Him.  We were never called upon to be right in order to be more effective in reaching the world. Before you speak, THINK – I’m sure we’ve all seen this acronym, and maybe even taught it, but do we actually follow it: T – Is it True? H – Is it Helpful? I – Is it Inspiring? N – Is it Necessary? K – Is it Kind? “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” we are told in Proverbs 18:21, surely it’s worth an extra effort to think through things before we say, write or post something. Use the Micah Filter – This minor prophet speaks to all of us in Micah 6:8 “…the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you:  to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” “This is our chance, as the people of Jesus, to show what it looks like to be civil in tone, humble in posture, and gracious in attitude.  I’m not saying that we have to be so ‘open-minded’ that our brains fall out.  Goodness, each of us can stand for whatever we stand for, and do what we believe is right!  But, please, Be Kind.” Let me leave you with a phrase that has stuck with me from the book “Messy Grace” that I read, and thoroughly enjoyed, this past summer: “Love is living the tension between Grace and Truth.”

Jesus Prepared Us for 2017

Welcome to 2017.  This year will be a new one for each and every one of us.  We will see and experience things that we may have never seen or heard of before.  Some things will be encouraging and others will bring disappointment and possibly even worse.

As I begin this New Year, I find myself in John 16 and I’m impressed by how carefully and thoughtfully Jesus prepared His disciples for what was ahead in their lives.  He begins the chapter with this statement: “I have told you these things so that you won’t abandon your faith.”

What was ahead for these disciples would be so difficult for them to accept that there was a possibility that they would abandon their faith.  The difficulty of understanding and enduring what was in their future had the potential for overpowering even three years at Jesus’ feet hearing and seeing the most amazing things any of us could imagine.

As I meditated on this I ask myself:  Am I prepared for what lies ahead – personally, spiritually, culturally?  Have I prepared my congregation for whatever lies ahead?  Will I/they be able to walk through what 2017 has to offer and come through it with a stronger faith or will it be too much for them and might they abandon their faith?

I’m sure we would all like to think that we/they are prepared, but remember, even Jesus made it a point to give His followers a little extra preparation at this point in their life.

Gentlemen, Jesus has given us everything we need to face the uncertain future with the certainty of His presence.  Let’s make it a priority to gather with one another, encourage one another, look out for one another and help each other be better servants of the Lord in 2017.  We need it!  Our respective families need it!  Our congregations need it!

“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me.  Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.  But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”   - (John 16:33 NLT)

It's hard to believe we are at the forefront of another year. It's even harder for me to believe that in a few short weeks, Grace Life Church will turn two. To see what has transpired since Julie and I embarked on this journey is quite humbling and further evidence that we serve a mighty God who has a mission to save the world.

Since our last update, we've had a few things worth sharing. 

• We had over 600 people attend our Movie in the Park on December 17th. As people were arriving to the park, our church volunteers passed out information had several meaningful conversations about life, our church, and Jesus.
• We had our first KidLife Christmas play! We had over 20 of our kids in this production and personally, it was awesome to sit back and watch Colton and Merritt sing (or try to sing) a few Christmas songs.
• On a personal note, I was able to take two weeks off around Christmas time. Church planting is emotionally, physically, and spiritually exhausting for me and my family. To enjoy those two weeks at home with them and with God was rejuvenating.

As we head into the New Year, we're also celebrating the growth we saw in 2016

• We doubled our LifeGroups and I officially only lead one, meaning we have 3 other couples faithfully leading their groups.
• Between October 1st and December 4th, our church brought 50 of their friends. This number only includes first time guests who were brought by someone who is a part of Grace Life.
• 57% of our church attends a LifeGroup.
• Are average attendance increased by 53%.
• We had 5 baptisms 
• We have increased giving from internal resources. As we grew older, we knew we would approach deadlines on promised monthly support. However, as that has occurred, we have seen new families begin giving. 
• We were given a truck for the sole purpose of towing our trailer.
• We have 43 adults and teenagers who regularly serve on the weekend.
• We started a Student Ministry and saw over 20 kids attend over 6 sessions.

I fully believe our church, by the power of God, will continue to make a lasting impact in our community. Please pray with us as we follow God and live on mission for him. Below, you'll see a few pictures that tell just part of the story of what's happening in Lake Asbury.
