Our services will begin promptly at 11 a.m. with Dale Hardy, pastor of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lake Mary. Tim Green will be speaking next and sharing with us how God has transitioned him into a new ministry. We will close with one of our champions of the faith, Rudy Johnson.

Charlotte is having a special time for the ladies as well, so please encourage your wives to come. The last thing we will do is have our business meeting, and then you can stay and fellowship as long as you would like to.

I want to thank you ahead of time for coming to Port Charlotte. I know it is an investment of your time and money; therefore, we will do our best to be respectful of your time and the investment you make to come to Sonshine Baptist Church.

Remember guys,  this is a 5 star ocean front, so don't be stingy.  Rates are $179 for an ocean view without a balcony, and $199 for an ocean front with a balcony.  There is also a $25 charge for all of your room goodies, coffee etc. during your stay, and $15 parking if you park at the hotel.  There is generally lots of public parking close to the building.  I am very familiar with this hotel, and there is nothing like it in the entire Jacksonville area.  Your wife will LOVE it!

Invitation to October's Meeting from Pastor Dave Janney

Orlando Baptist Church
500 S. Semoran Blvd
Orlando, FL 32807
(407) 277-8671

Dear Pastors,

This October we are honored to host the FBBF Meeting. Last year we had the November meeting within the
context of mission’s, as we kicked off our Missions Conference week. While mission’s is the heartbeat of our
church, we are excited to theme this year’s meeting “I love my Church.” Here’s what we would like to
accomplish. We want preaching that will encourage us in our calling as ministers, information and material
that will help us to be more effective as preachers and a time of great fellowship.

Here’s how you can help make this happen:
   1. Come to the meeting. It will not be the same without you here. Please come and fellowship with us.
   2. Email me one of your sermons or a series that we can reproduce for the pastors coming. My email
address is pastordave@orlandobaptist.com. I can use a podcast but I would like an outline or
manuscript too. This will be a great resource for all of us. I will add a few series the Lord has really
blessed in the last year at our church also. This will be a great resource for all pastors attending.
   3. Bring a pastor who doesn’t normally or often come to the meetings. We will make him feel welcomed
and enjoy the fellowship with him.
   4. Bring your wives and staff. We will have a special lunch and meeting for the wives and a very cool time
for the youth pastors.

Schedule:
11:00am - Pastor Dale Brooks, Avalon Church - Avalon Park, Florida

11:45am - Lunch and business meeting & Ladies lunch at the Janney home

12:45am - Pastor Gordon Godfrey, Marcus Pointe Baptist Church - Pensacola, Florida

1:30pm - Pastor Jay Lowe, Liberty Baptist Church - St. Petersburg, Florida

Please read a brief bio on each of our preachers. You will not want to miss hearing these wonderful men of
God.

We look forward to hosting the October meeting. It is my prayer we will all leave refreshed, encouraged and
ready to go home and lead our people as we “Love our Church” together. Please email me and let me know
you are coming and please send me your sermon or series for this special pastor’s collection.

Be blessed,
Pastor Dave

Pastor Dale Brooks

Pastor Dale Brooks has been a friend in the ministry for 16 years. Dale was Associate Pastor at Orlando Baptist Church from 1994 to 2002. Since March of 2002, Dale has served as the Senior Pastor of Avalon Church. Avalon Church was started within the support of several of our Pastors in the FBBF. Avalon was a church plant out of First Coast Baptist Church in Jacksonville and Orlando Baptist Church in Orlando Florida. Dale’s practical education comes from spending 14 years in business and 18 years in full time ministry. Dale has a compassion for people that is visibly demonstrated through both his Sunday messages, and his weekday ministries. His faith, vision and enthusiasm have led Avalon Church to the place it is today with a beautiful new campus and an average Sunday attendance of 700. Dale and his wonderful wife, Leigh Anne, were married for 14 years prior to her death in April 2009. Dale loves his people, God’s church and he will have a great word on ‘loving the church’.

Pastor Jay Lowe

I have known Pastor Jay Lowe since I was a young boy in Miami and he is one of my dearest friends. Jay is
Senior Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church and founder and president of Liberty Christian School. He established
and helped build three other Churches before he and Mrs. Lowe came to St. Petersburg in 1970. During the
past 37 years, under his leadership, Liberty has helped sponsor more than 1500 Churches, schools and
orphanages through support of Church planters and missions in over 75 fields of the world. Jay has developed
many management materials used by secular and ministry teams. For us, Jay is a church man and Liberty
Baptist Church is one of the great testimonies of a thriving Great Commission Church, with a missions giving in
2008 in excess of $450,000 Jay will share great insight on ‘loving the church.’

Pastor Gordon Godfrey

Pastor Gordon Godfrey and I attended Baptist University of America in Atlanta together. Gordon was saved in 1972 in Montgomery, Alabama.. In 1991, he became Pastor of Fundamental Baptist Church in Pensacola,
Florida. The church experienced rapid growth and soon outgrew the buildings. The church voted to relocate
and changed the name to Marcus Pointe Baptist Church. Since 1991, the average weekly attendance has
climbed from 63 to more than 1400. The church has averaged more than 500 salvations and 350 new
members a year for more than 18 years. He and his wife June have three children: Becky, Greg, and Bobby.
They also have three granddaughters and one grandson. Jackson. An avid outdoorsman, Pastor Godfrey can
often be found in the woods hunting or in the gulf with a rod and reel. But more importantly Gordon will have
a great message for is on ‘loving our church.’

Cornerstone Venice - February 8th

Cornerstone Baptist Church
Larry-Janie-Franckb.jpgLarry Franks, Pastor

10:30am – Officers Meeting (chairmen meet)
11:30-12:00 – Business Meeting & Prayer (church planting in Florida)
 12:15 pm – Lunch & Fellowship
 1:15 pm – 1st Speaker Matt Day
2:00 pm – 2nd Speaker John Cross
Short break
2:45 pm – 3rd Speaker – William Fay

We have a tremendous meeting planned for you on February 8th In Venice at Cornerstone Baptist Church! We see 2010 as the Year of Opportunity for God’s great hand to do what only He can do in and through us.

One thing that I observed in Venice my second year here was the "fracture" among Bible believing Christians due to the many church splits in this town. I believe that God is glorified when Christians can unify together on the majors of Scripture, so I was excited to see the desire for unity among the evangelical pastors of our community this last year and have seen God do some amazing things (71 people baptized at our September 6th Beach Baptism Celebration Service with 1700 people attending).

After our business meeting and lunch, our first speaker Pastor Matt Day will challenge us and encourage us in the Word and through testimony. Matt has served under great mentors such as Adrian Rogers and has taken "The Bridge Church" from 80 in attendance to 250 regular attendance following the Great Commission teachings of Christ.

johncross.jpgOur second speaker, Pastor John Cross has served as Senior Pastor of South Biscayne Church for the past 18 years. During this time, the church has experienced tremendous growth and has seen thousands of lives changed. His vision for South Biscayne has always been to do "whatever it takes" to reach people in Southwest Florida and around the world with the life-changing love of Christ. To carry out of this vision, John has skydived, ridden his motorcycle in the worship center, climbed a rock wall, and much more to creatively and compellingly communicate Christ’s love. He has a heart for this community and this generation.
While leading this exciting church, John earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in December 2006. He has also had the privilege to speak and be involved with churches and church leaders around the world.

Evangelist William Fay will be our final speaker of the day. He is well known for efforts in developing one of the most encouraging and effective evangelistic tools for today. His "Share Jesus Without Fear" training material has helped many churches get back to the main thing of boldly proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. I’ve studied and used many "Soul Winning" plans through the years and without a doubt, using "Share Jesus without Fear has impacted my methodology more than any other. We should have some time for Q&A where your inquiries on how best to involve members to boldly share Christ will be covered.

November 9th - Orlando Baptist Church

Orlando Baptist Church has the privilege of hosting the November 9th Florida BBFI meeting here in the state and we are very excited about it!  Our theme is "We Do Missions-Together. That's why they call it The Great Co-mission."  Our prayer is we will come with hope and leave with greater vision and faith to reach our world together.

In trying to gather what would make this a great day, we want to give a lot of information and encouragement to all our pastors.  Would you send me anything on missions that has worked for you at your church?  From mission's brochures, mission's conference information, any resource ideas or any particular endeavor you have done that has made missions become a centerpiece is what we want. Could you send a short story or send us any printed materials you have?  We are going to try to make a resource table available from all the churches that will participate with us.  I believe this will be something special.

Please invite any missionaries from your church that are raising support. This will be a good day for all our pastors to meet missionaries from our state that are going around the world with the gospel.  Tell them to bring their mission displays and we will have tables for them so they can set up the displays for people to see.

We are particularly interested in the missionaries that are going out as BBFI missionaries.  This will be a good time for them to get exposure to our BBFI pastors.

Our schedule will have a little more in it than some of the more recent meetings.  I hope you will come at the beginning and stay till the end.

July 13th Meeting - Palm Springs Drive Baptist Church

A man fell off a cliff, but managed to grab a tree limb on the way down. The following conversation ensued: "Is anyone up there?" "I am here. I am the Lord. Do you believe me?" "Yes, Lord, I believe. I really believe, but I can’t hang on much longer." "That’s all right, if you really believe you have nothing to worry about. I will save you. Just let go of the branch." There was a long silence, then… "Is anyone else up there?"

I’m not sure if there is a pastor who hasn’t used that story as an illustration in one of his sermons. I know I’ve used it many times. One of our favorite things to do as pastors is to encourage people to have faith. And one of our least favorite things to do is to have to exercise it ourselves.  Spurgeon said,  “Brethren, be great believers. Little faith will bring your souls to heaven, but great faith will bring heaven to your souls.”
The theme of our meeting is “Great Faith.”  Come be encouraged and enjoy the fellowship. Dress is Casual.

June 8th - Eastpointe Church - Jacksonville

Pastor Hale, Connie, and the great church family of East Pointe are inviting you to spend the day with them on June 8, as we enjoy our FBBF meeting.
Jesus established His church on the backs of strong leadership.  He had the ability to enlist, engage, entrench MEN into the work of the Gospel.  If there were ever a time to address the needs of the church today, it is in the area of winning the hearts and minds of strong men to continue the work of Christ.  on June 8, we look forward to being challenged and encouraged in the ministry of Building men for the Kingdom of God.  To do so necessitates a fresh look into the Word of God.  We hope you will make plans to come to Jacksonville, FL and experience the hospitality of Kevin and the church family of Eastpointe.

Business meeting, Ladies and Youth Pastors Meeting

The theme for the meeting is resurrecting churches. Tom Wallace Jr. will be speaking on the trends he is observing from the prospective of a missionary to England. Pastor Bales will give us a perspective from someone who has spent most of his ministry either starting or resurrecting churches, and Pastor Messer will give input on resurrecting large ministries. As I have been here at Lighthouse for a little over a year and have sought counsel on building a ministry, I have come to find out that we must always strive to keep life in our churches, no matter what size of ministry you pastor. As a former Youth Pastor one of the greatest challenges was to keep your kids on fire for the Lord. I pray that through this meeting you will be encouraged and challenged. We will be serving Florida style BBQ dinner and I encourage you to dress more causal as we will be eating outside under our pavilion.

After the meetings, we have two great opportunities for fun and fellowship.  For those who like golfing, we have arranged the chance to play 9 holes at the Tatum Ridge Golf Course (about 2 miles from FBC) for only $20.  Tatum Ridge is a wide-open and long golf course – lots of fun.  For those interested in shooting at each other, we have a competition grade Paintball Course.  You can play for one hour for only $10.  We provide the guns, the paintballs and the goggles – you supply the pain.  If you would like to golf or play paintball, please let Pastor Anderson know as soon as possible.

3 Minute Sermons
Would you participate in a group exercise to answer the question - "What do we as pastors have a tendency to forget?"  Your individual answer to this question should be 3-5 minutes long. It may incorporate a Bible verse, a story, a personal testimony, a Powerpoint presentation, a movie clip, or whatever you deem appropriate. Collectively, our answers should produce an encouraging and thought provoking afternoon.

Please choose a response angle from the list below. Don't worry about repeating what someone else chose. If more than one of us choose the same answer, we will probably explain it differently anyway, and the repetition might prove worthwhile.

Once you've made your selection, please email me at pastordave@faithbaptistsarasota.com  to let me know what you have chosen.  I will then place your names in order and give you each a schedule so you know when you speak at the meeting.

What do we as pastors have a tendency to forget?

  • Prayer is truly essential
  • All meaningful results are produced by God
  • Methods and strategies are not as important as God's power
  • The Bible does not need my illustrations to be powerful
  • There are probably people smarter than me in my congregation
  • There are probably people in my congregation with greater spiritual depth than me
  • God can use the weak and foolish to perform His will
  • It is acceptable for me to take time off
  • My reflection of Christ is clearly seen in my reaction to opposition
  • How an unsaved person would interpret my actions or words
  • Difficulty and adversity can have a positive purpose
  • It is very important to express appreciation
  • I am not called to drive the sheep, but to feed and lead the sheep
  • My time alone with God is as important as my public ministry
  • The fruit of my labor may take years to reveal (and maybe not in my lifetime)
  • ___________________________________________( your own answer)
THIS IS FOR YOUR WIFE - What do I wish my husband would remember about how the ministry affects our family?  Her response should be about 1 minute long.  Please ask her to email me her response in written form.  Her name will not be used, but at the meeting, a DVD will be presented with my wife reading all the ladies' answers.
Thanks,
Dave Anderson, Faith Baptist Sarasota, (941) 232-1621
