Missionary Projects Offering

Missionary Projects Offering

By now, every pastor who contributes through the BBFI Mission Office should have received a second mailing of the Missionary Projects Offering brochure, commitment card and letter from Dr. Jon Konnerup. The goal and desire of the Mission Office is to reach a $400,000 collective commitment fellowship wide. The Missionary Projects Offering is to help acquire stable and secure housing in which our missionaries can reside while ministering in foreign lands as well as assist national churches to erect buildings in which they can worship. This offering is one of the greatest things we can do for our missionaries.

Please let me know if you did not receive the brochure and commitment card or if you have any questions about it, or if you have a pledge amount in mind so that I can record it and bring it to the meeting in Canton, Ohio next month. You can reach me by phone at 352-326-5738 (office) or 352-516-9134 (cell). My email is gbbclees@aol.com. I did not receive a goal for our state, but last year Florida pastors pledged $20,700, of which $15,950 has been paid according to the last statement I received. I believe we can do better this year but it will not be done without your help. May God continue to bless and use you is my prayer.

Sincerely in Christ,
George A. Mulford
National Director

Speaker Bio's

Our first speaker is Bro. Steve Lawrence, Pastor of Beacon Baptist Church, Melbourne. Steve was raised in a pastor's home and has served in numerous positions in the ministry all the way from school administrator, associate pastor, professor at Baptist Bible College, and now senior pastor. His thirty years of experience plus having six children of his own gives him a unique perspective on how to help our kids not only survive but also thrive in the ministry.

Our second speaker is Bro. Ed Johnson. He has pastored two churches for a total of 33 years. During that time he was actively involved in the state fellowships of Ohio and Indiana as chairman and as state representative. He has served on the Mission committee for a number of years. He has a counseling ministry, C.A.R.E., International, which is geared toward those in full time ministry. In his two sessions he will offer valuable insights to helping us not just survive but to also thrive in doing God's work.

Update On Dan Holland

As many of you already know, one of our friends and Florida Pastors, Dan Holland of Community Baptist Church in Stuart FL suffered a heart attack in late July and is still in a coma. We ask that you continue to pray for him, his wife, and the church family as they seek God's grace and mercy during this difficult time.
he church website provides daily updates to his condition here.

At Cost Printing

Although this may at first appear to be an advertisement, I will promise you that it is not. A few years ago, a friend started a business making and selling OSHA safety compliance posters and videos. God blessed, and he began using his large scale printer to do printing for his local church (Cherry St. Baptist is Springfield MO) and for us here at Cornerstone. Long story short, God has continued to bless in such a way that he became desperate to find a way to give even more to the Lord's work. Last year he hired three employees full time that he wants to make available to BBF pastors and churches for the purpose of printing and even designing. We recently used them to print a full color 3'X 8' banner for our VBS. They wanted to let the FL BBF pastors know that they can get printing done for the cost of the ink and shipping. For glossy post cards and such, they have a wholesale agreement with an actual printing company out of Texas. Please feel free to call me if you have questions or visit their website at http://www.nscprinting.com/ . The contact person for pastors and churches is Beckah, and Betty for missionaries. Just let them know that you are with the BBFI.

Chairman's Report

I trust you have all had good summers so far. Summer is certainly a busy time with camps, children's programs, vacations, missions trips and a host of other things. I am taking our church through the book of Revelation on Sunday mornings. We just finished the message to the seven churches in the first couple of chapters. Can you imagine each church as the mail comes and a manuscript is delivered? Maybe they heard their name might be in it so there is some excitement. Then Ephesus reads about how they did all these great things but "you have lost your first love." As a church they were standing on truth but standing on truth became their first love and not Jesus. Another church is told they were "lukewarm." This comes as a shock because they didn't see that in themselves. They thought that God had been blessing. They had a good congregation with plenty of money in the bank to do ministry. They thought all was well. What a horrible thing to hear that God is sickened by their church. I then inserted the name of Park Street Baptist and imagined, "what would God have to say about us." I know He would have some commendations but would there be a "nevertheless I have somewhat against thee." If I am honest, I would say that there would. Those are the areas I have to be honest with myself as a leader and strengthen. As a Pastor I must seek to identify the areas that we need to work on as a church. Revelation chapter four is just around the corner. It won't be long when we hear the sound of a trumpet. It won't be long until we will be in heaven before the throne of God.
See you in New Port Richie for the August meeting!
